Shatrughan launches pre-election campaign?

Patna, (Bihar Times): One may call it as the first pre-election campaign speech for the Patna Saheb parliamentary seat. Film-star-turn-politician, Shatrughan Sinha, has fired the first salvo of the Hindu-Muslim unity at a seminar Atankwaad Hatao Desh Bachao organized in Patna by the BJP on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion he highlighted the two aspects of the Mumbai attack of last November. Firstly, it brought all the communities closer. However, he was pained that though the people marched with candles and message of peace to Hotel Taj and Hotel Oberoi nobody went to Chattrapati Shivaji Railway Terminus, where 60 lesser mortals, which includes several Biharis, were gunned down on November 26 night.

He also regretted that nothing was done to save the lives and properties of Biharis when they were targeted by the Senas. He said that he had personally appealed to all the eminent personalities to come out against the attack on Biharis but nobody responded. Some of them reacted but that was when it was too late.

The Bihari Babu lauded the Hindu-Muslim unity in Bihar and said that it was because of this reason that no terror attack had taken place in the state in the last so many years.

Noted columnist, M J Akbar, who presided over the seminar said that there are many issues on which politics can be done, but it would be unfortunate if terrorism is politicized. He said that the terrorists did not simply attack Hotel Taj or Hotel Oberoi but they wanted to create a wall between Hindus and Muslims as they know that it is impossible to divide the country without ereacting such wall.

Akbar said that Islam strongly denounces terrorism and quoting Quran said that it calls for the chopping off head and hands of the person who indulges in creating fasad.
