RJD seeks ouster of Nitish’s hand-picked officers from election duty

Patna, (Bihar Times):  Resenting the alleged posting of officers of a particular caste in key administrative posts in Bihar.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal on Tuesday demanded that hand-picked officers of a particular caste posted by the Nitish Kumar government should be debarred from election duty.
According to RJD vice-president and Union minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh “officers of All India Services of a particular caste belonging to other cadres presently on deputation in Bihar should be debarred from electoral duty.” He said this during a meeting of political parties convened by the Election Commission in New Delhi.
The party said district Electoral Officer, Superintendent of Police, Sub Divisional Magistrates and other officers should be posted on the basis of a fair and objective criteria under the direct supervision of EC.
“Party chief Lalu Prasad was keen to apprise the EC of the fact that the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government has brought a number of officers belonging to his own caste on deputation and given them key posts, who can influence the election,” a senior RJD officer was quoted by a news agency.

The party demanded the deployment of central government employees and officers to the maximum for poll duty. Fearing malpractices during election by the ruling Janata Dal (United)-BJP combine in Bihar, RJD has also suggested marking of sensitive and super-sensitive booths should be made directly under the supervision of EC.
