           | Patna, (Bihar Times): On February 12 Bihar will get Gold Prize at the National E-Governance Conference in Goa for its Jankari Call Centre. But there is darker side of the story too. Many of those seeking information are either behind bars or are getting harassed by the officials concerned.
This notwithstanding repeated reports appearing in the media about the official highhandedness. The government servants take revenge from those who dare to seek information from them. In a few cases which the BiharTimes.com got the officials even refused to accept the Speed Post seeking information. The officials in fact want to hide the information of wrong doings of the government machinery.

A media reports said that so far  cases have been slapped against 20 people. They are either seeking bail or absconding for fear of being arrested. Incidentally the poor and the economically weaker section are the worst hit. A Dalit woman is now running from pillar to post as she dared to expose the Block Development Officer of Punpun in Patna district. Similarly, a Dalit man had his house attacked when he made a complaint against mukhiya.

Last year the BiharTimes reported the case of an old retired army havildar, Chandradip Singh, of Maner in Patna district who had to spent 20 days in jail when he sought information on the police investigation into the murder of his son and daughter and attempt to usurp his property. Ironically he was implicated in a rape case.

Reports said that Satyendra Narayan Yadav of Khajauli in Madhubani had sought information about BPL beneficiaries, Indira Awas and Antyodya scheme from the BDO of Khajauli. The PIO called him in his office on the pretext of providing the information, but only a day before a case was filed by the PIO against him. He had to spent four months in jail and notwithstanding meeting chief minister, Nitish Kumar, in the Janata Darbar last April the case is yet to be withdrawn.
