Three killed as rail-flyover collapsed in Muzaffarpur

Patna, (Bihar Times): Three people were killed and several other injured when the railway flyover undergoing construction in Aam Gola under Kazi Mohammadpur police station of Muzaffarpur collapsed on Monday morning.

Though the district magistrate, Bipin Kumar, confirmed three death and four injured, unofficial sources put the toll at five. Relief and rescue operation have started and the administration has even announced compensation for the victims.

The bridge was being built by Indian Railway Construction Corporation (IRCON), which announced a compensation of Rs.200,000 each to families of those dead and Rs.150,000 each to those injured.

Local residents protested the incident and blocked the rail line. They also set ablaze a generator set of IRCON.

While I offer my deepest condolences to those killed in a tragic IRCON Railway Overbridge (ROB) collapsed (under construction), I could not find any reliable RJD leader or its Supreme Shri Lalu Prasad Yadav offering any kind of relief. Had this be of Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam, many RJD leaders and spokesperson like Shri Shyam Rajak would have started barking on Bihar Government? I'm not really surprised to see their unwanted comments on regular basis relating to developmental works for which they have no public mandate, as they failed to understand the literally meaning of "development" in 15 years of long rule.

If they are impartial, they should issue harsh comments against IRCON Engineers for their total failure at Muzaffarpur ROB Construction, but I could not find any RJD leaders because IRCON belongs to Shri Lalu Prasad Yadav's Railway Ministry. My request to all RJD leaders to kindly digest developmental works being carried out in Bihar and at least compliment CM of Bihar for taking steps to reach grass-root level ordinary citizens rather than criticizing.
