Patna, (Bihar Times): Bihar has become the first state to introduced smart card, e-shakti, for labourers covered under NREGA. Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday introduced this scheme during the Vikas Yatra at the Paliganj agriculture farm in Patna district.
The smart card will contain entire details of the card-holder and once the card is inserted into the machine at a panchayat, his presence will be recorded and it will also show the duration of the work by him and what amount he should be paid. The e-shakti scheme is being launched in two panchayats of the district.
In Paliganj Nitish also inaugurated several schemes and announced that the Paliganj would be given the status of a Nagar Panchayat. A degree college would be opened there and a stadium will also be constructed.
