Bihar Assembly censures opposition for seeking speaker's ouster

Patna, (Bihar Times): A couple of hours after the opposition parties’ decision to move resolution against the Bihar speaker the assembly on Thursday adopted a censure motion against the entire opposition.

The opposition had accused the Speaker, Uday Narayan Chaudhary, of partisan behaviour as he absolved BJP MLA Ramadhar Singh of the allegation that he called RJD deputy leader in the House Shakeel Ahmed Khan, a Pakistani.

“The Assembly censures the conduct of the opposition under Rule 5 read with Rule 60D in the annexure of the Bihar Assembly Rules of Conduct of Business and Procedure as their actions were violative of Rule 29 (5), 33 (3) & (7),” said the motion moved by Parliamentary Affairs minister Ramashray Prasad Singh. The motion was adopted by voice vote in the absence of the opposition.
Singh criticized the opposition for not honouring the Speaker’s ruling that the BJP MLA had not made any derogatory remark against Khan.
