CM to launch Development March from January 19

Patna, (Bihar Times): It can be termed as a New Year Resolution of Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar. He announced on Wednesday that he would undertake a state-wide Vikas Yatra (Development March) from January 19.

He disclosed this during the get-together with the people and journalists on the eve of New Year at his official residence at 1, Anne Marg. He hoped that the New Year would be better than the year gone-by.

The Vikas Yatra would begin from West Champaran district and would conclude at the end of February. Talking to the newsmen the chief minister denied that this March had anything to do with the parliamentary election. He said that his biggest concern was to wipe out the tears from the eyes of the flood victims by rehabilitating them.

He said that during the Development March he would live in tent and would review the progress report of the schemes for which foundation stones were laid and public meetings would also be organized. He thinks that this is the best way to reach out to the common people to hear their grievances. Instead of holding weekly Janata Darbar in Patna he would be holding such meeting at the village level.

Though the chief minister claims that the Vikas Yatra has nothing to do with the election the truth is that before the 2005 assembly election he launched a Nyaya Yatra, which ensured his victory. The Vikas Yatra, many think, may pave the road for Lal Krishna Advani to become the Prime Minister.
