Sale of petro-products increased in Bihar

 

Patna, (Bihar Times): Whether you call it a positive development or a development which will increase pollution the truth is that, of late, the consumption of petroleum products have increased in Bihar.

But according to the Union petroleum and natural gas secretary R S Pandey “this increase is very positive. The consumption has increased by 13 per cent per year. The growth is twice the national average which falls between 6 and 7 per cent.”

Pandey was on Friday in Patna to discuss the state of the petroleum industry in Bihar with officials of various oil companies.

He said that the total number of retail outlet in Bihar is 1,362, which is below national average. Poor network of roads and low per capita income were the reasons behind it. The number is likely to touch 1,500 this year.

The number of LPG dealer in Bihar is 313. Pandey said that in the next four months, the number will be increased it by 106.

There are 26 lakh LPG users in Bihar and the waiting list is just 1,864 and no customer has to wait for more than two months for a new LPG connection.

He said the project for a petrochemical complex in Barauni was in process. ONGC is going to start exploration in the Ganga basin in Bihar within a month.

Pandey also announced the opening of a new LPG bottling plant having a capacity of 44,000 MTS at Muzaffarpur this month. He also said a CNG line for Bihar is on the cards.
