Rs 3,300 crore BSEB dues lying with govt depts

Patna, (Bihar Times): Believe it or not Rs 3,300 crore of the Bihar State Electricity Board is lying with different government departments as dues. Three departments alone owe Rs 2,874 crore to the BSEB.

Reports said that the urban development department owe Rs 1,762 crore, to be followed by minor irrigation department Rs 737 crore and water resources department Rs 375 crore.

After taking over as the chief minister in November 2005 Nitish Kumar had asked all the department to make provision in their budgets for paying energy dues.

Reports say that it is, however, only now that the urban development department has made a budged allocation of Rs 430 crore to pay the electricity bill. The water resources department earmarked just Rs four lakh while the minor irrigation has paid only Rs 60 crore against the bill of Rs 737 crore.
