Recently appointed Bihar Youth Congress chief removed

Patna, (Bihar Times): The AICC general secretary in charge of the Indian Youth Congress, Rahul Gandhi, removed Chandan Yadav barely five days after he cleared his name for the post of new Bihar Youth Congress president on the ground that he is overage. Incidentally he was to take charge in Patna on Thursday.

Ironically the order from Rahul Gandhi’s office came when Chandan Yadav was leading a celebratory procession to the state party office at Sadaquat Ashram in Patna.

Party sources said that the apparent reason for Yadav’s removal was that he violated the age limit criterion of 35 years. Rahul Gandhi made a fervent appeal at the Congress Working Committe to give opportunities to the youth. He said the party should give at least 30 per cent of the ‘difficult’ seats to young faces.

Reports said that Rahul Gandhi's confidence is based on the fact that of the over 30 Youth Congress leaders fielded in the recent Assembly elections in five states, a majority of them won.
