NDA wins 13 council seats

 

 

Patna, (BiharTimes): The ruling National Democratic Alliance in Bihar won 13 of the 22 local bodies seats of the legislative council, for which counting took place on Wednesday. The latest victory helps the alliance gain absolute majority in the state upper house of the state assembly.


Now the NDA’s strength in the 75-member house went up to 46. The Janata Dal(United) bagged 10 seats and BJP won three. Election for 24 seats was held on Monday. The result of two other seats are awaited.

RJD-LJP combine, which had contested in alliance barring in East Champaran and Nawada seats where they were engaged in a friendly fight, won two seats each. Incidentally LJP won from Nalanda, the home district of the chief minister, Nitish Kumar, and another from Hajipur.
It is for the first time that elections for the local authorities seats of the Legislative Council have been held on party basis
