Patna, (Bihar Times): It is a Shikara of different kind––just pray for more water in Ganga.
Chief minister Nitish inaugurated the floating restaurant, M V Ganga Vihar, as sun sets-down on Monday evening. Along with the officials and journalists the Chief Minister sailed from Gandhi Ghat to Collectorate Ghat than back to Mahatma Gandhi Setu only to terminate at Gandhi Ghat near National Institute of Technology.

In between the Chief Minister made several suggestions. He said that he would hold a cabinet meeting on this floating vessel as it would be the best advertisement for it. Besides, one can think better in a peaceful atmosphere and added that the state government would take some major decisions while floating. The government would pay Rs 20,000 for four hours, its actual rate, for the cabinet meeting, he hastened to add.
Ganga Vihar will be operated by the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation on river Ganga twice a day.
The floating restaurant will also be made available on rent for social and family functions like birthday, marriage etc.
On Nitish’s advice the department announced that it will throw open the Ganga Vihar for viewing solar eclipse on Wednesday morning. It was decided to offer an entry ticket of Rs 100 each at 4 am on Wednesday. The tickets along with sunglasses can be bought from Kautilya Vihar and Chandragupta Swimming Pool at the Moinul Haq Stadium.
The chief minister said if the cruising restaurant proves a success, more vessels would be pressed into service. Private operators would be welcome to run the show, he added.

It is very exciting event for the people of this state..There is no proper recreational place for the people and their family in and around Patna.. Previously men and women used to enjoy boat rides and even picnic across the Ganga river but dueto law and order problems such places became dangerous so much so that only criminals enjoyed in these places .Saner citizens were afraid of going even near to these sites..
People must be grateful to the present govt which has returned happiness to Bihar families..However a lot of things have to be done .
I will suggest that on both sides of the Ganges near Gandhi Setu big parks should be developed ..This may include Hajipur side also..Such places will afford great happiness and relief to the people of the state .This may generate additional income to the govt if nominal entry fees is introduced..This will also instill security and confidence in the general public and will demoralize the criminals..
