28 Bihar districts declared drought hit  

 

Patna, Aug 3 (IANS) The Bihar government Tuesday declared 28 of the state's 38 districts drought affected due to 20 percent rainfall deficit, an official said.

The decision was taken at a state cabinet meeting.

The districts declared drought hit are Gaya, Jehanabad, Aurangabad, Arwal, Nawadah, Patna, Nalanda, Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas, Kaimur, Munger, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Jamui, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Banka, Siwan, Saran, Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Vaishali, East Cham-paran, Madhubani, Samastipur and Darbhanga.

Cabinet secretary Afzal Amanullah said the state government has initiated several measures such as subsidies on diesel for farmers hit by the drought.

Last year, the state government had declared 26 districts drought hit.

The nonsoon usually hits the state June 12-14. While the rains have begun, they have been scanty.

drought problem is permanent , solution should be permanent

Bihar has a perennial problem of scanty rains year after year , we should have to find some annual quota to get fixed from the central govt of india for this issue , so that some alternate arrangement every year
