Prabhunath, two Janata Dal (U) MLAs, MLC join RJD

Patna,(BiharTimes): The ruling Janata Dal United in Bihar received a severe blow on Saturday when its former leader in the Lok Sabha, Prabhunath Singh, two sitting MLAs and MLC joined the Rashtriya Janata Dal.

They all joined the party at a grand function attended by a large crowd at Chapra.
Prabhunath Singh, once a bitter critic of Lalu Prasad, is a Rajput leader who rebelled against the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar last year, after the latter’s move to enact Bataidari (sharecropper) law in the state.

Along with late Digvijay Singh and Lallan Singh, Prabhunath organized a massive Kisan Mahapanchyat at Gandhi Maidan in Patna last May.
At Saturday’s Janata Mahapanchayat in Chapra Prabhunath held Lalu’s hand and waved at the crowd.

Sitting JD(U) MLAs Ramparvesh Rai (Chapra) and Kedarnath Singh (Masrakh) also joined the RJD. Besides, MLC Salim Perwez also crossed over to the RJD. Lalu represents Saran (Chapra) parliamentary constituency in Lok Sabha.

Prabhunath Singh was elected to Lok Sabha from Maharajganj thrice on JD(U) ticket but lost in the last general elections.
Speaking on the occasion Lalu said political change in Bihar after the Assembly election is inevitable.

The RJD chief said that the ineffective Nitish Kumar government is bound to go after the Assembly election.
Lalu said the RJD would ensure 10 per cent reservation for the economically-backward upper caste people in jobs in the event of its coming to power.

He said he had learnt a lot of lessons from the past and urged the people to give him another chance.
He once again promised regularisation of services of teachers and other employees appointed on contract during the Nitish Kumar regime if the party was voted to power.

Prabhunath Singh, who spoke in Bhojpuri. accused Nitish of betraying the farmers and ridiculed his claim of good law and order situation in the state.
