33 Bihar Regiment soldiers feared killed in Leh flash floods

Patna,(BiharTimes): Thirty-three Indian army personnel, including three Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), belonging to the 15 Bihar Regiment are reported to have been killed in cloudburst and flash flood in Leh.

They were deployed along the Line of Control in Siachen sector.

According to top army sources in New Delhi they were reported to have washed away in flash floods in Ladakh region near Siachen on Friday and remain untraced.

The Army has now sought the help of Pakistani authorities to rescue these 33 personnel as it fears that they may have been swept away towards Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Both north India and north Pakistan are witnessing devastating floods.

Army sources said that the jawans, who were manning a post near Turtok along the Line of Control, faced the fury of Shyok river on Thursday night. So far 145 people have died and 500 missing.
