Bihar Speaker visits constituency after Maoists’ threat

Patna,(BiharTimes): Within ten days of receiving a threat from the Maoists the Speaker of Bihar Assembly, Uday Narayan Chaudhary, on Thursday made a tour of his constituency, Imamganj, in Gaya district. However, unlike in the past he got strict security cover this time.

He reached Imamganj block in the morning and later proceeded towards Dumaria block where he inaugurated several projects. Imamganj-Dumaria belt is considered as a stronghold of the Maoists, who about 10 days back issued a diktat asking the Speaker not to tour his constituency for the campaign during the assembly election.
The Speaker, however, said he had not received any such threat and said that he would campaign in the election. One of his aides, an Assembly employee, was a few days back abducted from near Dumaria and publicly thrashed in Jan Adalat of the Maoists.
It is said that Chaudhary himself had a soft corner for the Naxals in the past.
