Pawan’s cartoons included in Texas University course

 

Patna,(BiharTimes): Chief minister Nitish Kumar would be releasing the book Cartoon Ki Duniya on cartoons of famous cartoonist of Bihar, Pawan, on December 27.

Pawan, who has now acquired international recognition, started making cartoons at the very young age in 1987. He was then still in school. However, since 1989 he has been making political cartoons.

He started contributing cartoons for the Patna edition of the Times of India in mid-1990s and later shifted to Dainik Hindustan and BiharTimes.com.

His cartoons have now been included in the Hindi-Urdu Flagship Course in the University of Texas, Austin, the United States.

His cartoons help understand the social and political changes in India.

Prof Jishu Shankar has in one of the chapters used most of the 41 slides to highlight the cartoons of Pawan. The message and meaning of the cartoons have also been explained along with.

His cartoons not only reflects the changing politics of Bihar but also shows his perfect grip on the socio-economc changes.

Pawan said that in 2005 a research scholar from Texas University, Ritu Khandauri, contacted him.

It was during the BiharTimes Conclave on December 18 last that Prof M J Warsi of Department of Linguistics, University of Washington, while disclosing the above facts, said that the talents of Bihar are making waves in other countries.
