Central scheme to help Bihar open 410 model schools

 

Patna,(BiharTimes): In all 410 model schools would be set up in Bihar under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), a campaign launched by the Centre last year. Bihar would allocate around Rs 2,000 crore for this purpose. Besides, 750 primary schools will be upgraded to secondary level.




According to the Principal Secretary, Human Resources Department, Anjani Kumar Singh, the Centre would provide about Rs 1,300 crore for opening 410 model secondary schools, each costing Rs 3.07 crore.
He also said that Rs 30 lakh each would be spent on upgrading primary schools to secondary schools. The state would need a minimum of 8,100 teachers for these upgraded school, and would cost another Rs 100 crore per annum.
Anjani said that the RMSA seeks to achieve an enrolment ratio of 75 per cent for classes IX-X within five years.
