All four PMCH doctors return, say CBI want to seek their help

Patna,(BiharTimes): With the return of four heads of department of the Patna Medical College Hospital on Friday evening the mystery behind doctors being taken away by the CBI was unraveled.

One of the doctors said that they had been summoned to the Katihar Medical College for providing technical assistance to the investigating agency in the Ketan Desai scam case.

According to Dr Khurshid Alam, head of the department of Anatomy the CBI has received complaint that former MCI chairman, Dr Ketan Desai, had extended undue favour in granting recognition to the Katihar Medical College. “The CBI went there to inquire the case and had sought our technical assistance. We were neither interrogated, detained or arrested as reported by a section of media and were treated very respectfully,” he was quoted in the Hindustan Times.

The other three doctors taken by the CBI are Dr S N Sharma, head of the department, Physiology, Dr Sudhir Kumar, head of the department, Surgery and Dr P K Singh, head of the department, Psychiatry.

Dr Alam further said that the CBI has requisitioned their services because they were among the senior inspectors of the MCI.

However, the chairman of the Katihar Medical College, A A Karim, denied that any team of either the CBI or doctor from the PMCH had recently visited his college. “Never has any team from he CBI or doctor visited my colleges after the Ketan Desai controversy broke out. A team from the AIIMS came to the College on June 30 for a day-long periodic inspection of the Meidcal College,” he said.
