Patna-born film-maker wins US award

Patna(Bihar Times): Yeh Khula Asman (The Open Sky), a feature film by Patna-born Gitanjali Sinha, has been awarded at the All-Sports Film Festival, Los Angeles on July 9-10. The award has been won in the Best Foreign Feature Film category.

The film was shot at various locations at Bhagalpur, including the Kuchehri Chowk, the Agricultural College at Sabour and the banks of the Ganga. It is based on the crumbling bond in the Indian family, which is trying to keep pace with the ever increasing globalization.

Gitanjali, who is at present in Mumbai, said that the film has also been chosen to be screened at five other international events, namely the International Youth Film Festival, London, International Film Festival, South Africa, the Heart of England Film Festival and the Kids’ First Film Festival, US which will be held between August and September this year.

Gitanjali, daughter of Dr Sachidanand Sinha, studied at the Notre Dame Academy and the Patna Women’s College. Later she did a course in film direction from the New York Film Academy and in script writing from the St. Martin’s College in London.

The cast of the film comprises the Massey Saheb fame actor, Raghubir Yadav, Yashpal Sharma and Anya Anand from Patna.
