Many Sanskrit, para-teachers injured in police action

Patna(Bihar Times): Police fired tear gas shells and used water cannon to disperse thousands of Sanskrit, Madrasa and newly-appointed contract teachers on Wednesday at R-Block near Bihar assembly. Many teachers were injured in the incident.

Earlier they took out a rally from Gandhi Maidan, demanding salary equivalent to those of government schoolteachers. They passed through Fraser Road and reached R Block, where they organized a meeting. The meeting was addressed by Kedar Pandey, MLC and several others.

The newly appointed para-teachers under the aegis of Bihar Rajya Navniyukt Shikshak Sangh were demanding that their salary be paid according to the pay-scale. The situation turned hostile when both the groups joined hands and made a bid to cross the iron barricade and march towards the State legislature.The police then used tear-gas shells and water cannon.

They wanted direct talk with the the chief minister, Nitish Kumar.
The rally threw traffic out of gear in the state capital.
