Congress leaders roughed up at Patna airport

Patna,(BiharTimes): Angry over denial of tickets to genuine party workers a large number of Congress activists on Saturday roughed up the president of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) Choudhary Mehboob Ali Kaiser and the Congress Legislature Party leader in the state assembly Ashok Ram.

The incident took place at the Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport soon after they arrived from New Delhi. Hundreds of Congress workers reportedly owing allegiance to Chandrabali Thakur, a ticket seeker, from Sarairanjan constituency in Samastipur, started chasing them.

They abused them and surrounded them when they boarded their respective vehicle. Slogans were raised against them. They alleged that the two state leaders had taken huge money from a Mumbai-based builder, Abhash Jha, for ensuring a party ticket from Sarai Ranjan.

Party chief spokesman and media cell incharge Prem Chandra Mishra denied the allegations of money power playing important factor in distribution of tickets and said it is a normal phenomenon. Those who have received tickets are happy and those denied nomination are aggrieved.

Several angry party workers also locked the office of Kaiser at the Sadaquat Ashram here on afternoon and held demonstrations before the party office.

Reports from Gopalganj and Samastipur districts said angry over denial of tickets to the leaders of their choice, the party workers ransacked the party offices at Bibhutipur in Samastipur and Gopalganj.
