Bihar political parties join hands against paid news

Patna,(BiharTimes): Perhaps for the first time in Bihar’s history representatives of almost all the major political parties in the fray in Bihar addressed a joint Press Conference for a common mission. They all expressed their willingness to oppose the recent practice of paid news in the state.

Addressing a joint Press Conference in Patna on Wednesday they said that this practice is harmful for the health of the democracy in Bihar as well as the entire country. They all assured the voters that they would not support paid news, especially during the election campaign.

Publication of paid news is a relatively new phenomenon and many senior media experts have voiced their concern over it. Only last month some mediapersons of Bihar organized a meeting in Patna and invited representatives from all the political parties.

However, there is no dearth of media houses, which encourages this practice for the sake of business.

Addressing the Press Conference the representatives of the Congress party and its state unit chief spokesman, Prem Chandra Mishra, wondered as to why so few journalists turned up to attend the Press Conference organized jointly by almost all the political parties of the state. “When anyone of us organize Press conference a large number of journalists come, but today very few of them are here,” he remarked.

"We are equally concerned against this menace and though its difficult but we have to join hands and make a humble beginning" asserted JDU spokesperson Neeraj Kumar.

Representaitves of RJD, Janata Dal (United), BJP, LJP, Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party and CPI (ML) addressed the Press conference.
