Rahul Gandhi is a leader after Jayaprakash Narayan: Congress

New Delhi: The Congress Thursday drew a subtle parallel between late socialist leader Jayaprakash Narayan and Rahul Gandhi, saying the party general secretary has in the former's fashion focused on the youth to address their needs, concerns and future.

'There is an undercurrent for the Congress in Bihar. After J.P. Narayan, Rahul Gandhi has addressed the concerns, needs, and future of the youth,' Congress spokesman Mohan Prakash said here.

He said that former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was the leader who focused on children after former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, and Rahul Gandhi had done so for the youth after Jayaprakash Narayan.

Answering queries, Prakash, however, clarified that he was not making a comparison between Gandhi and Jayaprakash Narayan, who was a symbol of resistance against the Emergency.

He said Gandhi had toured universities across the country to address students and no other leader had done so.

Terming the alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal-United and that between the Rashtriya Janata Dal and Lok Janshakti Party in Bihar as 'unnatural and unstable', he said people were looking for the model of development presented by the Congress.

He said the RJD of Lalu Prasad was playing its 'last innings' in the state.

According to Prakash, as the assembly elections in Bihar cross the different phases, the support for Congress will become clearer.

'Old equations will be demolished. The result for the party will be better than expectations,' he said.

Rahul Gandhi....... what a big joke. Look at this poor chap. When this election is being fought on development, Rahul and his party trying to divert the people on the name of religion and then region. First it was Hindu - Muslim and now Bihari - Marathi. What a shame on you Rahul. The Maharashtra state government is yours. The Central Government is yours and still you are not able to control a GUNDA named RAJ Thakrey and now playing cheap politics here. Now the people are much more educated and intelligent. They can't be fooled by your cheap politics. And Rahul one more thing...... what you are promising the people of Bihar? You say anyone can govern Bihar better than Lalu. Do you mean to say that we must give the reins of BIHAR to SADHU YADAV and SUBHASH YADAV or PAPPU YADAV or AANAND MOHAN ??????? And talking of corruption........ how do you see the CWG. Just stop talking bullshit. Biharis's are much more intelligent than what you are thinking. Go back RAHUL. GO BACK.

Sir , What a comparison ! Rahul reflects within him Nehru ,Indira and Rajiv besides his mother Sonia .Rajiv was a symbol of modern development .He could see a technological advanced India many years before one could think of .Rahul imbibes simplicity and outlook of his father .Let us not comapre him with any one , he is unique .If I & you were in his place receiving invitation to join Union cabinet on daily basis ,we would have jumped on the wagon on very first call .He has shunned all this power-related offers .JP ,at best ,was known for his non-co-operative style and disperson.Honestly ,Congress party ought to screen its spokespersons more closely before appointing them , otherwise more such embarrassments will follow .

The comparison of Rahul with JP is completely unacceptable and laughable. It can be termed as "CENTURY'S BEST JOKE". Now its seems that congress has accepted that since independece all the congress leaders who ruled india has done nothing and that is why they are comparing their leader with the leader who opposed congress policies.
As a congress spokesperson, its known that he has to speak on behalf of the party, but stop appeasing and comparing your leader with others, let the people decide about rahul, because ultimately people of india elected him as MP, not congress party.
