Subhash Yadav to desert brother-in-law Lalu, join Congress?

Patna, Sep 8 (IANS) Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad's brother-in-law Subhash Yadav is likely to desert him and join the Congress ahead of the Bihar assembly elections in October-November, party sources said.

Subhash Yadav, the youngest of Lalu Prasad's three brothers-in-law, felt he was being sidelined and was angry at being denied a renomination to the Rajya Sabha, said a RJD leader. Last year, his brother Sadhu Yadav, alias Anirudh Prasad Yadav, left the RJD to join the Congress shortly before the Lok Sabha elections.

"Subhash is unhappy about being sidelined by his sister Rabri Devi, former chief minister, and Lalu Prasad in the RJD. What angered him the most was being denied renomination to the Rajya Sabha this year," an RJD worker close to Subhash Yadav told IANS. Subhah has made up his mind to join the Congress, he added.

He is in touch with Mukul Wasnik, who is in charge of Congress party affairs in Bihar, and other top leaders in New Delhi to join the party along with his supporters.

"It is sure that Subhash will join the Congress to follow his brother Sadhu to play politics against Lalu, their mentor," said an RJD insider.

Congress leaders were, however, reluctant to say anything.

"We have no information. But a large number of people are joining the Congress as the party is set to revive its old days," Congress leader Prem Chand Mishra said.

The Bihar elections will be held over six phases, beginning Oct 21 and ending Nov 20.
