Buddha Park row: Hindu religious leader calls to vote against Nitish

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bharat Sadhu Samaj on Wednesday launched a five-phase agitation against the Nitish Kumar government’s move to build a Rs 125 crore Buddha Memorial Park on the land near Patna railway station which earlier had a Shiva Temple. The Park was inaugurated by Dalai Lama on May 27 last.

The Samaj claims that the site where the Park is coming up had a Shiva Temple for more than 50 years. It was demolished to make space for the Park.

Urging the people to vote against the Nitish Kumar led Janata Dal (United)-BJP alliance government in Bihar the Samaj said that the stir would be launched to make the people aware of this fact.

The founder general secretary of the Samaj, Swami Hari Narayanand said that the temple was situated at the entrance of Bankipur Jail, which was latter shifted to Beur. The way it was removed was against the religious values and principle of Hinduism, he said a day before launching the agitation. “We initially thought that it would only be a park but now they are constructing meditation rooms and stupas. This is an attempt to convert poor people to Buddhism. They would be impressed by its grandeur of the Park and this seems to be a well-laid out plan.”

He demanded that a part of land be kept aside for the re-construction of the temple.

A writ petition was filed at the Patna High Court some months back. It asked as to how can a secular state indulge in building a religious structure. The petition had said that this would be against the spirit of the Constituttion of India.

Bharat Sadhu Samaj men Sadhu shabd samaahit hai. Lekin aisa lagata hai ki Mr Hari Narayan Nand men sadhu wali koi pravritti nahin hai. Sankirntayon se upar nahin uth paya hai ye shakhs. Dil jala prateet hota hai. Aur yah Bihar ki dhara ke sabse bade Putra Tathagat Buddh ki tauhin karne ki himakat kar raha hai. Kripaya yah spasht karen ki kya yah wahi aadmi hai jo aksarhaan Jaatigat Sammelanon men shamil hota rahta hai.
