Former Union minister Akhilesh Singh leaves RJD

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Rashtriya Janata Dal on Saturday lost lone Bhumihar leader of any standing to Congress. Former Union minister of state for agriculture, Akhilesh Singh, resigned from the primary membership of the party and is most likely to join the Congress party.

Though he said that he was not satisfied with the seat adjustment with the LJP the truth is that he was waiting for an excuse to cross over to Congress, In fact he was to leave RJD earlier but the party chief , Lalu Yadav, along with neo-convert Prabhunath Singh met him at his residence for several hours till late night last week.

Lalu tried to persuade Akhilesh not to quit but his efforts failed and the latter quit the party.

Akhilesh, who was the Union minister between 2004 and 2009, lost the last year’s Lok Sabha election.
