EC to keep close watch on polls through webcams

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Election Commission of India intends to take a close eye to the forthcoming Bihar elections. That is why, according to its recent directive, all ‘critical polling booths’ would be linked with live web casting (LWC) through integrated service digital network (ISDN) of the broadband internet service of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).

The service would telecast live round-the-clock footage of the polling process of constituencies falling under Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, East and West Champaran under Tirhut division.

According to S.M. Raju, Divisional Commissioner (Tirhut), tentatively more than 2,500 polling booths have been brought under the classification of “critical polling booths” in the aforementioned districts.

The Central Para Military Force (CPMF) would vigil all the polling booths under these districts, according to the ECI order. The ECI would provide 410 companies of CPMF to conduct the election peacefully to tackle any Maoist threat.

The critical polling booths have been categorized keeping in view the Maoist-affected areas, threat of pre-poll violence, caste and communal sensitiveness and other factors.
