Samajwadi Janata Dal merges with Janata Dal(Secular)

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Janata Dal (Secular), which is facing a grave challenge in its citadel, Karnataka, is trying to expand its base in Bihar.

Bihar-based Samajwadi Janata Dal (Democratic) led by former RJD MP Devendra Yadav on Tuesday merged with the Deve Gowda led outfit ahead of the Assembly polls in the state. Devendra left RJD a few weeks back.

The rump, Samata Party, will also merged with JD(S) after the Bihar Assembly elections. The party will contest the election on JD(S) symbol.

Talking to reporters in New Delhi JD(S) chief and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda said this would be a new beginning in Bihar politics. He said both BJP and Congress were the two sides of the same coin and the party would seek to provide a pro-poor, pro-farmer, pro-Dalit, pro-OBC, pro-minorities alternative to the people of Bihar, he added.
