Tree-planter seeks CM’’s help from police

Patna,(BiharTimes): Niranjan Kumar of Khagaria district of Bihar got beaten up by police and subsequently landed up in jail for too noble a cause. If what he told to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during last Monday’s Janata Darbar is to be believed the district police are harassing him and put him behind bars just because he is in the habit of planting trees.

What is strange is that he has been doing this work for the last 20 years and earned praise from President of India and Governor of Bihar in the past. But now the police are treating him like a criminal.
He said that some criminals would repeatedly destroy his plants. When he approached the police, they instead of arresting the criminals beat him up and threw him in jail.
Niranjan, who lost all hope in police, came before the chief minister as the last hope.
Nitish asked Inspector-General (Administration) J S Gangwar to look into this case.
