‘Will not marry outside Patna because of power, water shortage’

Patna,(BiharTimes): When all efforts are being made to improve the image of Bihar––thanks to Bihar Diwas jamboree costing crores of rupees–– Mahua News, a regional Bhojpuri Channel, on Tuesday carried a unique story, which may go a long way to dent the impression of the state.

On the day when large number of women, traders, students and children of Gaya, Jehanabad, Saharsa and several other places took to streets to protest acute water and power crises the channel showed a story stating that young girls are refusing to marry outside Patna.
It quoted several girls, who went on record to say that they would prefer to marry outside Bihar or within Patna but nowhere else in the state because of horrible living condition in other towns. There is no water and power even for a couple of hours in all these places in Bihar, barring Patna. The situation was never so bad, yet the chief minister has repeatedly been holding the Centre responsible for these crises.
The girls interviewed by channels said that while in Patna they can have a better night sleep, watch TV serials and news of their choice and do whatever they like in other places there is no life left.
Even if they get married in some plce outside Patna they would cajole the husband to shift to the state capital.
The groom side are also putting up their demand. Apart from fridges, TVs, two-wheelers etc the demand for invertors as dowry have increased in the recent years.
The reaction of the girls portrays Bihar in very poor light and the state government can not wash its hands of. At present officials are taking the excuse that they are busy in panchayat election and have different priority. But what were they doing all these six years.
It is now fast dawning upon the people that most of the tall claims made by the state government is far from from true. They are realizing that the improvement in the National Highways and rural roads built under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana have nothing to do with the state government nor has it anything to do with the toning up of rural health sector. In fact all these are centrally sponsored schemes launched all over the country in the last few years and the Bihar government is only taking credit of it.
Several hundred crores are pumped by the Centre under the National Rural Health Mission for the improvement of Primary Health Centres in Bihar. On its part the Nitish government has not appointed a single doctor in the last five and a half years but boasting that it has improved the health sector in Bihar.
“If the state government can not provide water and power, both are state subjects, how can it claim that it had built all the National Highways, whose responsibility lies with the Centre and not the state,” asks a critic.

Some questions intrigue me these days:

1. When the condition of Gandhi Sethu is so pathetic then why the hell the State govt
has allowed plying of heavy duty 16-24- wheeled lorries and dumpers on it?

It seems the Bihar govt is making every possible attempt to make sure that the bridge
collapses, so that they will again get points to malign the Centre.( a routine habit ! )

2. What is the need to replace the MLA LAD scheme with CM's Development Scheme?
How can it be corruption free when every department from Block to State Secretariat is
corrupt?

It is a ploy to dupe the people by promoting the idea that only the CM works for the people
and everybody else is worthless and corrupt..

.
It is a sorry state of affairs. The State neither be run by celebrating auspicious days
& caste-based birth anniversaries nor by paid-campaigns by vernacular and English
dailies. But,when the opposition is non-existent and media is ally, even God is helpless.

This regime is corrupt ever to take office.

And, there are plethora of double-speaks and half-truths of the regime which require serious
appraisal.

From last two years, Bihar is facing drought like situations in most of the districts. So, water level has fallen 3-10 metre at many places. In this situation, how any CM can provide huge amount of water for daily purpose? Everyone wants uninterrupted power supply, but nobody ready to provide land (see the conditions of Jaitapur (Maharashtra) and Aurangabad (Bihar)) . During Vajpayee govt., Bihar bagged two power plant projects (Barh and Nabinagar). But, these two are under construction. Amount of electricity supply from central pool depends upon regular payments of electricity Bills. In Bihar, power thefting is a big problem and BSEB fails in collecting the electric bills. Finally, BSEB fails to pay bills regularly to NTPC. BSEB produces hardly 100 MW from its own plants. I want to ask some questions to author regarding NH projects, rural health programs etc.

(i) If Central govt is too kind for Bihar. Why Mahatma Gandhi Bridge is not repaired? After all, it is life line for North Bihar.
(ii) Why Bihar govt is needed to take loan from Asian Development Bank (Japan) for repairing the Highways and constructing new roads?
(See: http://www.adb.org/projects/project.asp?id=41127)

(iii) Why Bihar govt is needed to take loan from World Bank to start the Bihar Kosi Flood Recovery Project?

(iv) Please, go through the NHDP phase V projects and see the allotments for Bihar. Also, compare with others states.

(v) Why Bihar govt is needed to start MMGSY for development of rural roads. From 2006 to 2011, state govt has invested about 1585 Crore rupees in this projects.
(see: http://rwd.bih.nic.in/PMGSY/DISTRICT%20WISE%20Report%20MMGSY%20MARCH%202011.pdf)

I hope, author will go through above given links.

I have expressed my view on the under development of bihar several times in my letters to editor in bihar times. sometimes my letters were published another time not published. putting blame alone on the government of bihar and accusing chief minister of indifference toward sufferings of the people in this state is not fair.why did people of bihar not go on the street to protest against the bifurcation of bihar.the income producing areas of the state went to jharkhand and bihar's revenue declined significantly.take for example:do any of you believe if calcutta was taken out of bengal or bombay out of maharastra or benaglore out of karnatka people of these states will sit back and allow this to happen?i think not.these cities are the income producing(i call it ATM machine) of these states.what has the central government done to find a permanent solution to the yearly devastating flood of north bihar.our ex foreign secretary mr jagat mehta in his book ,criticized prime minister nehru for not reaching any agreement with nepal to build dams on the rivers whose water inundate north bihar with flood water and devastate entire region causing loss of human lives in thousands and crores of rupees in material damages. every year. secondly, indian industrial houses have created in their mind the plan to keep bihar underdeveloped.this gives them the benefit of cheap bihari labors.if they develop bihar the wages will go up in bihar and no bihari will travel long distance to other parts of india for slavery wages.this way these bihari's blood sucking animals (industrial houses of india) will not put extra profits in their pockets.
I say to all biharis.your future and your kids future is in your hands. bihar government can only provide from the revenue it receives.it is not government's task to provide jobs.the government's job is to create conditions in which private enterprise thrives.if patna has all ingredients for industries then ,why are indian big industrial houses not building industries in patna?biharis should begin thinking if being a part of india is a blessing or a curse.

Shameless and Apathetic : How else can you define the sattadharis ?
This is not the voice of one Bihari girl or a single Bihari family living under the draconian regime of Nitish Kumar and his lackeys.
It is the voice of the masses suffering endlessly at the hands of the immoral bunch of hooligans who have ascended over the financial control room of Bihar through media manipulation and hefty bribes.Almost all sensible Biharis are well aware of the plunderous scheme of the controllers of Power in our state. What is needed at the moment is a sincerely designed revolution against the corrupt regime to get the innocent population rid of their everyday sufferings in the name of power-cuts,water shortage and broken roads.
There are a number of Bihari elites who have made their mark in the global arena, It's high time they think of a change back home.A change that our coming generation so desperately needs.I am ready to break the ice, Are you ready ?
