Rangdari tax demanded by Police Sub-Inspector: IMA

Patna,(BiharTimes): Now it is the turn of the Police officer and her husband to extort money from doctors. That is what the Indian Medical Association, Bihar chapter, charges.

On Thursday the IMA strongly denounced extortion demand from a doctor couple of Patna--Dr Shivendra Sahay and Dr Nirmala Sahay--allegedly by a Sub-Inspector (SI) of Bihar Police, Anupama Kumari, and her husband
Mukul Sharan.


IMA's national vice-president Dr Vijay Shankar Singh. Bihar IMA vice-president Dr Rajeev Ranjan Prasad and Bihar IMA general secretary Dr Ashok Kumar Yadav along with the the doctor couple addressed the Press conference in this regard on Thursday.

The Sahay couple accused the SI and her husband of demanding rangdari (extortion) tax of Rs 10,000 per month, failing which their clinic was threatened to be burnt. Dr Sahay is an ophthalmologist who runs his clinic at Kundan Complex in Kankarbagh locality.

Dr Shivendra Sahay alleged that they were repeatedly being threatened by the SI and her husband since June 21, 2005, when for the first time Mukul Sharan, in an inebriated condition, tried to misbehave with his wife Dr Nirmala when she was alone at her flat. An informatory was lodged in this regard in the CJM court, Patna. They were threatened again in 2009 and the second time an informatory petition was lodged in the CJM court, they alleged.

On April 11, 2011, the SI and her husband again made a demand of Rs 10,000 as rangdari, failing which they threatened to burn their clinic. The doctor couple approached the court for the third time,lodging an informatory petition in this regard on which the CJM, Patna, gave order to Patna SSP, City SP and DSP Sadar along with the Kankarbagh SHO to look into the matter.

Why the police man extorting anyone, where is hamare CM Sahib. What is he doing, in this regard, In Bihar this type of crime as isual. Why our CM do not take the action against this type of crime.
