Harding Park to be rechristened as Veer Kunwar Singh Azadi Park

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar government has decided to rename the Harding Park near Patna railway station as Veer Kunwar Singh Azadi Park in a token of tribute to one of the leaders of the 1857 War of Independence.

Addressing a function organized by the Janata Dal (United) on the eve of Kunwar Singh Jayanti on Friday Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said the Veer Kunwar Singh Azadi Park would showcase the contributions of all the freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the Independence of India from 1857 to 1947.

Materials would be made available at the Park to educate the younger generations about the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters to win independence from the yoke of British colonialism. The youths will get to know about the history of the freedom struggle without reading books by merely paying visit to the park.

Nitish also announced construction of a guest house at Jagdishpur village, the ancestral village of Kunwar Singh for those visiting the place. He said that the guest house would be ready by next year.
