Income Tax raids on Bihar JD(U) general secretary’s premises

Patna,(BiharTimes): Income-Tax sleuths raided the flat of the Janata Dal (United) state general secretary, Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, on Thursday and Friday.

The I-T raided his flat in Veena Shree Apartments in Punaichak locality following detection of some financial discrepancies in the functioning of Tirupati Homes Ltd, a real estate firm. Prasad is one of the directors of Tirupati Homes.

According to senior I-T sources the raids on the offices of Tirupati Homes Ltd located at Nageshwar Colony and other places in the state capital were carried due to some discrepancies in its operation, which have come to the notice of the department.

Substantial recovery was reportedly made during the raids. I-T officials, however, declined to disclose the details of seizure made during the raid as they are in the process of investigating things right now.
Reports said that the raids at Prasad's flats have embarrassed the JD (U) leadership.

Tirupati Homes is considered as a major name in Bihar's real estate sector. Earlier it was a private limited company which was converted into a public limited company in 2010.
