Kadam Kuan residents to protest govt policy on Khas Mahal land

Patna,(BiharTimes): Residents of Kadam Kuan have decided to stage a dharna in front of front of the Hindi Sahitya Sammelan on May 1 to lodge their protest against the Bihar Khas Mahal Policy, 2011.


This was decided at a meeting, which took place at Baldev Sahay Path on Thursday under the banner of
Kadam Kuan Khas Mahal House Owners' Association.

The participants said that it was the responsibility of the state government to protect the interests of its citizens.
But the Khas Mahal Policy of the Nitish government is aimed at evicting the people, they charged.

The speakers said that between 1925 and 1936 the British government awarded permanent lease to the people after taking a fixed charge from them and allowed them to settle at Khas Mahal lands. This lease continued from generation to generation, the Association said.

Dr Achal Sinha, TRD Sinha, Dr Ashok Singh, Madhavji Prasad, Association general secretary Syed Irfan and Nageshwar Yadav were among those who spoke on the occasion.
