Bihar Police declares 5-year old as Goonda

Patna,(BiharTimes): A five-year-old boy, Suryakant, has been charged by the police of Aurangabad district in Bihar with disrupting the peace during the on-going Panchayat polls.

He has to report to the police station everyday for the last seven days.
The district police have declared him as a Goonda, who is threatening peace in the area and disrupting the process of Panchayat polls. Section 107 IPC has been imposed on him in wake of ongoing Panchayat elections in the state and the boy is out on a temporary bail from a local court.
According to lawyer Sidheswar Vidyarthi, he has been asked to pay bond of Rs 20,000, which is violation of child’s right.
His family members, friends at schools and others are shocked at this callous approach of the police. Initially they thought it to be a clerical error. But when they approached the local police station, the police confirmed that it was done deliberately.
According to Vivek Raj Singh, SP, Aurangabad, Section 107 has been imposed on the relatives of the candidate contesting polls. “We will inquire this case against a kid,” he was quoted telling CNN-IBN.
