BJP, JD(U) MPs to raise appointments of VCs in Parliament

Patna,(BiharTimes): The BJP and Janata Dal (United) MPs from Bihar would raise the issue of the appointments of VCs and pro-VCs and the style of functioning of the Governor of Bihar, Devanand Konwar.
This was announced by the deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi in Patna. Keeping up his attack on the Governor-cum-Chancellor of Universities of Bihar he said that the state government was not consulted in the appointment of VCs and pro-VCs. He once again dubbed the governor’s action as illegal.

Modi’s announcement came a day after the Janata Dal (United) spokesman and Rajya Sabha MP, Shivanand Tiwary, met the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, in his Parliament Hosue office to complain him about the Governor’s action.

Efforts are also on to challenge the appointments of VCs and pro-VCs in the Patna high court.
Tiwary said that the Patna high court had earlier in May last quashed the appointment of VCs of Magadh and Veer Kuer Singh Universities on the ground that the Raj Bhavan did not consult the state government. He also handed over a copy of the high court order to the PM.
