Nitish, Modi slam Hazare’s arrest; Lalu calls for faith in Parliament

.Patna,(BiharTimes): Even as thousands of people gathered at different places in various cities and towns of Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and other leaders strongly denounced the arrest of Anna Hazare in Delhi on Tuesday morning.

Nitish said that all attempts to crush peaceful protest against Anna’s arrest is bound to fail. What has happened is the precursor to the Emergency. The arrest of Anna is an undemocratic step and Congress is known for such action.

On the other hand the former Railway Minister and RJD leader, Lalu Yadav, said that Anna Hazare himself is a good man, but he is surrounded by people having vested interest.

He said that those involved in the campaign for Jan Lokpal should have faith in Parliament. Fast-unto-death is the last resort and should not be undertaken when the issue is still in Parliament.

Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi said that there is anger all over the country over his arrest. He said that after the JP movement this is the most popular mass agitation against the Congress.

“I as an individually and my party is with Anna Hazare. We are shocked at the way he is being treated. I demand his immediate release. Instead of solving the problem of corruption the Centre is taking action against him.Calling on the people to take to streets in support of Anna’s movement against corruption he said that the detention of Anna reminded the people of the Emergency and detention of Jayaprakash Narayan. Modi clarified that the movement was above party consideration and for common people.
The CPI ML also flayed the Centre for adopting undemocratic approach.
