August rain raises hope of good crop in Bihar

.Patna,(BiharTimes): Good rain in the first half of August has raised the hope of bumper paddy and maize output in Bihar this year. In July the state had a deficit rainfall, which once again caused fear among the farmers as the state witnessed drought in the last two years. Though Patna proper has not too much of rain there was satisfactory rainfall elsewhere in the state.

According to Ashok Kumar Sinha, agriculture production commissioner, if everything goes as expected, the state will be producing seven million tonnes of paddy and almost a million tonnes of maize. It is also expecting a good output of pulses, too.
