Farmer seeks arms licence from minister

Patna,(BiharTimes): Want to have an idea about the situation in rural Bihar. A farmer from Kaimur district ended up before the animal and fish resources minister Giriraj Singh‘s weekly Janata Darbar on Wednesday to seek an arms licence to protect himself from the criminals and Maoists.

Subh Kalam Singh (38) belongs to Chainpur block of Kaimur. The area is notorious for criminal gangs and Maoists. He told the minister that the Left extremists might attack him any moment.
He said that he had already applied for an arms licence in the office of Kaimur district magistrate three months back but it seems the latter is not interested in providing him the licence.
The farmer boldly urged the minister to speak to the DM so that he could get arms licence.
The minister immediately called up Kaimur district magistrate (DM) Asangba Chuba’s office but the DM was not available.
The minister assured him that he would speak to the DM and that he would get an arms licence according to the rules.
