Governor clears Bihar Lokayukta Bill 2011

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Governor, Devanand Konwar, on Sunday cleared the Bihar Lokayukta Bill, 2011. The Bill is to be tabled in the current Winter Session of the State Assembly.
The Nitish cabinet had on November 30 last approved the revised Bill.
However, the opposition parties questioned the need for rushing through with such an important Bill in a great haste without proper debate.

According to the deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who headed a three-member team to fine-tune the draft, it would be the most effective and strong Lokayukta in the country.
However, Team Anna and Bhrastachar Virodhi Jan Pahal have strongly criticized the Bill and called it weak and replica of UPA’s Lokpal Bill.
