Janata Dal (United) wins Laukaha seat

Patna,(BiharTimes): The ruling Janata Dal (United) retained the Laukaha Assembly seat in Madhubani district when its candidate, Satish Prasad Sah defeated the RJD candidate, Mokhtar Ahmed by 22,763 votes.

While Sah got 64,435 votes his nearest rival of RJD got 41,672 votes. The rest of the candidates, including that of Congress, forfeited their deposit.

The Janata Dal (United) candidate is the son of late minister Hari Prasad Sah who died at AIIMS in New Delhi a few weeks back.

The result came as a blow to both RJD as well as Congress. The constituency has about 40 per cent Muslim-Yadav votes, which once used to form the backbone of RJD.

The humiliating defeat of the Congress comes as a severe jolt to former Union minister, Dr Shakeel Ahmed, as Laukaha falls in his home turf.
