Panchayat teachers take to streets, seek parity in payment

Patna,(BiharTimes): Thousands of Panchayat Teachers of Bihar took to streets of Patna to press their charters of demand.

They converged to Gandhi Maidan, from where they marched to the state Assembly. However, they were stopped by police at R-Block roundabout.

The teachers alleged that they were facing discrimination in payment and perks notwithstanding the fact that they are performing the duty on par with the permanent teachers. They demanded equal pay structure and pension for all the 2.5 lakh appointed para-teachers. Besides, they also sought maternity leave for female para-teachers.
