TET applicants indulge in violence, target Minister

Patna,(BiharTimes): Candidates appearing for next week’s Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) on Wednesday staged demonstration and resorted to large-scale violence at several district headquarters in Bihar in protest against gross mismanagement in the distribution of the admit cards.


The applicants rose slogans against the Nitish Kumar government and charged it with gross irregularities in the distribution of admit cards. Katihar, Saran, Buxar and Khagaria districts reported strong protest.
The candidates held the state authorities responsible for inordinate delay in distibutionof the admit cards ahead of the TET which is to be held on December 20 and 21. They also alleged that at several places money was being demanded by the authorities.
In Katihar, the Minorities Welfare Minister, Shahid Ali Khan, had to face the ire of the applicants at the Islamia High School. The Minister was actually there to attend an official programme.
In Chapra, the district headquarters of Saran, the furious applicants ransacked the Government Girls’ High School premises for the second day in running after they failed to receive their admit cards for TET even after standing in queque for several hours.
According to the State Educational Training and Research Council (SETRC) Director Hasan Waris over 25 lakh candidates are likely to appear in the two days of examination. He said that all arrangements have been made to conduct a free and fair examination throughout the state.
Waris also said that the schedule for their distribution could be extended if candidates failed to receive the admit card by December 16.
As a section of candidates protested against rejection of their applications, the Human Resources Development Minister Prashant Kumar Shahi said that such applicants would be

given opportunity to appear in the TET in another examination, which would be held in January next year.
