Nitish welcomes Food Security Bill, but with a rider

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar backed Food Security Bill but hastened to add that the Centre should have considered the points raised by the state governments.Talking to media in Patna on Monday he said that the beneficiaries should be identified by an independent commission and not the state governments.

Besides, he reiterated that the additional financial burden should be borne by the Centre because states on their own could not bear the extra expenses. The chief minister said that the Bill had already been delayed, and once it is passed by Parliament it should be implemented, so that the poor could get foodgrains at cheaper rates.
