Now thieves looted idols from temple

Patna,(BiharTimes): Falling temperature have something to do with the theft and burglary. On December 16 thieves struck thrice in one night at three different business premises in the vicinity of Gandhi Maidan with police nowhere in the scene.

The next night, thieves looted shops located in the Ashiana and Gurhatta areas under Shastri Nagar and Khajekalan police stations. They decamped with valuables worth Rs 70,000 and cash.

On the wee hours of Tuesday they targeted a temple in the heart of Patna.

They looted idols from a temple in the Qazibagh area under Alamganj police station. The incident also put a poser on the police claim of preventing theft by introducing a foot patrol in various parts of the city.

According to reports thieves decamped with more than 10 idols of gods and goddesses, whose total price could be something near Rs 5 lakh.

Reports quoting temple sources said that the temple has two doors, both of which were broken. All the idols were stolen. One of them is made of ashtadathu. It is very expensive,” said a worker at the temple.

Though two constables have been deployed for each kilometre to prevent criminal activities, yet theft has increased in the state, especially during the winter season. As many as 500 constables had been deployed.

Now even the houses of IPS officer and MLC are not spared by thieves.
