Shoes hurled at CM’s meeting in Sasaram

Patna,(BiharTimes): Shoes were thrown and chairs hurled at the dais of the chief minister Nitish Kumar in Sasaram when Janata Dal (United) MP from Karakat, Mahabali Singh, rose to address the public meeting. The people interrupted him many times alleging that he had no interest in the development of the constituency.

Addressing the meeting the chief minister announced the modernization of Indrapuri dam, disclosing that a new irrigation policy was being framed for modernization of the Sone canal system.

On the last day of his Seva Yatra, he dedicated 708 schemes at the estimated cost of Rs 162.83 crore to the district and laid the foundation of 1,042 projects at a cost of 132.83 crore from Bikramganj at a simple function on Saturday.

He assured the farmers that in case PACS failed, the State Food Corporation would procure their paddy crop on minimum support price. And in Shahabad Zone comprising the four districts Bhojpur, Rohtas, Buxar and Kaimur, 10 lakh tonne of paddy would be procured.

Meanwhile, charges of scam against the Rural Works Department figured prominently in the three-hour-long review meeting attended by chief minister on Saturday.

Sensing the gravity of the situation, Nitish asked department secretary B Rajender to camp in the district and make on-the-spot inquiry of some roads constructed by his department and take action against the guilty engineers.
