CM undertakes Sewa Yatra of Aurangabad after open Maoists’ threat to him

Patna,(BiharTimes): A day after the open threat issued by the Maoists to the chief minister, Nitish Kumar, the latter undertook the Sewa Yatra of Aurangabad district on Thursday. He is to stay in the district till Saturday.

On Wednesday the Maoists dared the district administration by pasting posters in schools, community centres and government buildings in Aurangabad town itself warning the people not to attend his meeting in the district. The posters, according to reports, even threatened to target the chief minister himself.

But Nitish on Thursday undertook Seva Yatra and visited Maoist-infested Amba and Kutubagarh areas in the district amidst tight security. However, he was late by more than two and a half hours. He undertook a similar exercise in the Maoists’ den of neighbouring Rohtas district a few days back.

In fact he reached Patna from Delhi on Thursday morning itself and than took a helicopter to went to Aurangabad. He visited the Goh Circle and Block offices and went to Parta village under Amba police station where he offered prayers at a temple.

The chief minister stayed for an hour at archaeological site at Kutumbagarh and directed the Divisional Commissioner to take immediate steps for development there.

He also visited Mehfile Kalin to see weaving of carpets at Obera block famous for this work. He also paid a visit to the Khadi Gramudyog centre there.

Political observers are linking this threat to the chief minister of the state with the arrest of Pramod Mishra, a politburo member of the CPI (Maoist), who is at present in Aurangabad jail. He was arrested sometimes back in Dhanbad in Jharkhand.

Though the state government had taken the threat seriously the truth is that the very appearance of the posters in the town itself suggests the failure of the intelligence and that too on the eve of the visit of none else but the chief minister. It shows how much really prepared the state machinery is to take on the Maoists.

Reports said that due to the threat there was some alteration in CM’s programme and he could meet much less number of people.

On December 26 Maoists had burnt road rollers of a private construction company engaged in road construction at Parta village in the district. The road was being repaired for proposed visit of the chief minister there.
