Trinidad PM take route to Bihar to trace her roots

Patna,(BiharTimes): After Mauritius it is the turn of the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Kamla Persad-Bissessar to trace her Bihar origin.

She is arriving in Patna on January 11 and would visit Bhelupur village in Buxar district from where her ancestors had migrated to this West Indian island nation in 19th century.

Bhelupur in situated in Itarhi block of Buxar district, about 125 km from the state capital.

Her ancestors are said to have migrated as labourers to Trinidad and Tobago, then a British colony. Persad-Bissessar, the first woman Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, will also meet her relatives during the visit. Hari Shankar Tiwary is said to be one of them.

According to Sub-Divisional Officer of Buxar, Nishitha Verma, the district authorities are making full preparations to welcome her and provide all possible comfort and facilities. The road to the village is undergoing a facelift and a helipad is being prepared for the landing of her chopper.

In February 2008 Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam had visited his ancestral village in the Bhojpur district, from where his ancestors had migrated. Later a roundabout was named after his father, Shivsagar Ramgoolam, in Patna.


There was some initial confusion over his ancestral village.
