Hari Uppal dies at 80

Patna,(BiharTimes): Noted classical dancer Padma Shree Hari Uppal died of brain haemorrhage at a hospital in Kolkata around 8.40 on Sunday night. He was 80 and is survived by three daughters and a son.

Originally from Manpur village near Pusa in Samastipur district of Bihar Uppal was admitted to the Kolkata nursing home on December 19 last.

His son Abhik Uppal said that his body would be brought to Patna on Monday where the last rites would be performed.

Hari Uppal founded Bharatiya Nritya Kala Mandir in Patna in the early 1950s. He also set up training institutes in Patna and Ranchi.
